Practical help for a cleaner yard

Every yard and every dog is different. These quick guides cover common cleanup questions from Poopy Poochy customers in St. Clair County and northern Macomb.

SPRING CLEANUP

What to do when the spring thaw reveals a winter’s worth of dog waste

As snow melts, piles that were hidden become visible again. Start by checking the yard in daylight and identifying the areas your dog uses most. Keep gates and paths accessible, and avoid trying to rush through a large buildup if you can’t see the ground clearly.

A one-time spring cleanup can help reset the yard before regular mowing and outdoor use pick up. Tell us how many dogs use the yard, the approximate size of the area, and whether any spots are difficult to reach so we can prepare an estimate.

LAWN ROUTINE

Why it helps to clean up dog waste before mowing

Picking up visible waste before mowing keeps the mower and lawn from becoming part of the cleanup. It also makes it easier to spot missed piles and leaves the yard more comfortable for people and pets to use afterward.

Walk the yard first, paying attention to fence lines, shaded areas, and the places your dog visits most. A regular pickup schedule can make this pre-mow check quicker because there is usually less buildup to work around.

SERVICE FREQUENCY

Weekly or every other week: which cleanup schedule fits?

Think about how many dogs use the yard, how often they go outside, how much of the yard they use, and how quickly you want waste removed. Weekly service keeps the interval shorter; every-other-week service means more can build up between visits.

Poopy Poochy weekly service starts at $15 per visit for one dog, and every-other-week service starts at $26 per visit for one dog. The estimate depends on your dog count, yard details, and selected extras. Tim confirms the final price and route day.

FIRST VISIT

How to prepare your yard for its first cleanup

Before service starts, share gate instructions and the areas you want cleaned. Make sure gates are unlocked and accessible. Let us know about hazards, obstacles, or places where waste may be hard to see, and keep pets inside if they may be uncomfortable with a visitor.

You do not need to be home when the yard is accessible. We follow a route rather than promising an exact arrival time, and we send an on-the-way text and a completion text.
